Flee Weevils
Flee Weevil
What appears to be a new insect to this state (and maybe the country), is a small orange flea weevil with an Asian genetic background that is feeing on elms. These weevils cause small shot holes and can jump; hence the name. We suspect they belong to the genus Rhynchaenus. The feeding damage is cosmetic and has occasionally been observed in the southeastern part of the state.
